What is HCG?

HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin, a glycoprotein secreted by placental trophoblastcells. The time when secretion begins is generally the 6th day of fertilization, and theconcentration is relatively low at the beginning, which cannot be detected. About 14 days afterovulation, the serum HCG level will rise rapidly, and it can be diagnosed as early pregnancythrough blood test.
